In the Month of January 6-9 2023, Saveer participated in an international conference “iFANS” 2023- hosted at NABI, Mohali focussing “FOOD AND NUTRITIONAL SECURITY. This conference is jointly organized by NABI, Mohali; CIAB, Mohali; (PTCA (I)), Pune; ISPP, New Delhi; ICGEB, New Delhi; and ICAR-NIPB, New Delhi.
The theme of the conference is highly relevant to Agri-food and nutrition research, plant molecular biology and biotechnology, in particular. The conference envisaged to bring together international experts and researchers in the areas of agriculture, food & nutrition biotechnology and genome editing. The theme of the conference was most pertinent to address the challenges for modern agriculture. The conference also intends to inspire young students and researchers considering the fact that the food and nutritional security have become a global challenge and advanced biotechnology tools, such as genome editing using CRISPER/CAS has the potential to achieve the targets for zero hunger.
Addressing many prominent dignitaries of industry, Saveer also delivered a talk on speed breeding facility to share knowledge, experience & expertise in establishing customized turnkey infrastructure solutions by sharing the inhouse R&D results. Organising group of NABI had also appreciated Saveer team for the knowledge shared on this advanced technology. Speed Breeding Facility, aims to shorten the crop breeding cycle and accelerate crop improvement through rapid generation advancement. By using this facility, one can reduce the crop generation time by half and can increase generation time per year depending upon the crop type. Saveer had established similar facilities with many reputed organisations in India like IRRI Varanasi, TNAU Coimbatore, IIMR Hyderabad & other ongoing projects in Punjab.
